How it works

    Tell us what you remember

A few gentle questions and one photo. About three minutes. You can talk instead of type.

We write their story and paint them into it. Read the cover and first pages before you pay a thing.

  3. 3

    Keep it, for good

Read every page and ask for changes. Once you approve it, we print a hardcover the whole family can hold.

Garden Emergency

The true story of Ruth, as told by Karen

“Mom, I wrote you down so nobody gets you wrong.”

A sample made the way every book is: from a daughter's answers about her mother, who has passed. Written to her, painted from one photo.

Watercolor of Ruth in her kitchen at night, pouring the last cup of coffee from the pot
The last cup in the pot was never yours. You left it there for whoever walked in last. Hot, if we were quick. Cold, if we weren't. You left it there either way. In our house, nobody came home to an empty pot.
Watercolor of a girl driving a tractor down a dirt road between Iowa cornfields
Before you were Mom, you were Ruth. A farm in Iowa. The youngest of six. Every one of them got there before you. And still, in your whole town, the first girl up on a tractor was you.
Watercolor of Ruth at the kitchen table doing the crossword in pen with her coffee
Every morning, the kitchen table, the crossword. In pen. Not pencil. Pen. Most of us would keep an eraser close, just in case. Year after year of mornings, you never reached for one. Not once.

For every story

Still with us, or remembering them

Still with us

Give it while they can read it. Their first job, how you met, the thing they always say, painted in their likeness. Let them hear what they mean to you.

Remembering them

For someone you miss. Choose “In memory” and we write it to them, about the life they lived. A book the family reads aloud, and keeps.

Inside every book

Their story, and the pages you keep

Fourteen painted spreads of their life, then pages at the back that hold on to the rest.

Questions

What people ask us

Can I make one for someone who has passed away?

Yes. Choose “In memory” and we write it to them, warmly, about the life they lived. We never describe an illness or a death unless you ask us to.

What if I don't remember much?

A few small things are enough: something they always said, a place, a habit. We ask simple questions with examples, and you can add more after you order.

Does anyone have to write or record anything?

No. You answer the questions and we write the book. Nobody else has to do a thing, so it works as a surprise too.

Can I change things before it prints?

Yes. You read the whole finished book first and can ask for changes twice. Nothing is printed until you approve it.

How long does the hardcover take?

Standard shipping takes about 3 weeks in the US, and Rush takes 2 to 3. The digital copy is yours the moment you approve the book.

Are the paintings made with AI?

Yes. AI helps us paint them in a classic watercolor style from your photo. The story comes from your real memories, and a person on our team reads every book before you see it.

Before it's forgotten.

A book the whole family can hold, and read again.
